About Us
The mission of Oregon Spellers is to encourage, promote, and recognize spelling excellence for the youth of the State of Oregon and to provide, in conjunction with the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and our sponsors, an annual state level Spelling Championship.
In the OREGON STATEWIDE SPELLING CHAMPIONSHIP, County and Regional Spelling Contest winners compete on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend at the Oregon State Fair in a written contest against students near their age to determine the best young spellers in Oregon. (Oregon Spellers and the OREGON STATEWIDE SPELLING CHAMPIONSHIP are not an Oregon Department of Education program, and are not affiliated with Scripps or the Scripps National Spelling Bee.) |
